Yoga Rest Revolution

Hi, I’m Eliza and I think we are all too busy. I don’t know about you but I feel like it’s all too much sometimes and we just need to Rest. It's time for a Rest Revolution!

I’ve been where you are, overworked and overwhelmed, with no time to stop and care for myself. I’ve attended yoga classes that weren’t for me and left me feeling worse about myself than when I entered. Then I discovered active Rest and found myself feeling more at ease, connected, and in control. Enter Room of Rest, my yoga movement to get us to slow down, because sometimes, Rest is best.

The Room of Rest concept came to life during lockdown as a weekly online yoga-based session. The focus of these sessions was 30 minutes of active yogic Rest to help you cultivate a regular practice of Rest. These sessions included Yin Yoga, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga Nidra.

The idea was to bring the feeling you get from retreats and yoga classes into your home. The Room of Rest could be anywhere you choose it to be. It could be a physical space that you carved out in your home. If space wasn’t an option it could be a place you created in your mind to “travel” to. A place where you could find some release from the daily hustle of life.

As we shifted out of lockdown there was an air of collective exhaustion. We all attempted to get back to what our routines looked like in this “new world” that had evolved so much whilst we were in hibernation.

This is when Room of Rest, mini retreats came to life. City retreats for individuals who wanted to get away and find time to recharge, but could not leave the city for any reason, affordability, time constraints, family commitments, etc.

These mini-retreats became a regular occurrence in 2022, and it soon became clear that the Room of Rest was a necessity for many people. Seeing how much these sessions helped people has inspired me to dedicate my time to sharing these practices with a wider audience.

A brand that started as Elumi Yoga, planted the seed of the Room of Rest and watered it to blossom into what it is today. An inclusive, accessible space for anyone tired of being tired. For those of you who want to cultivate a practice of Rest as a priority.

The Room of Rest is a yoga movement focused on promoting deep relaxation and Rest for your body and mind. Designed to help you release tension, reduce overwhelm, anxiety, and improve sleep quality. Enter the room to experience guided meditations, sleep stories, retreats, yoga classes, and workshops.

You can expect slow, gentle movements and poses held for several minutes at a time with the support of props. You won't need any special equipment, as options will be given for you to use household items. Other practices include breathwork, sound, and meditation practices to help calm your mind and promote a sense of inner peace.

Some common types of yoga for Rest include:

  • Restorative yoga. Holding supported poses for several minutes at a time promotes mental and physical relaxation and releases tension in your body.

  • Yin yoga. Holding poses for several minutes at a time stretches the connective tissues of the body, and increases mobility.

  • Yoga Nidra. Guided meditation and relaxation techniques designed to promote active Rest.

  • Nada Yoga. Sound healing releases tension through the vibration of sound.

The Values of the Room of Rest

Community | A community of like-minded people who want to prioritize active Rest.

Inclusivity | A space where everyone is welcome.

Empathy | You are not alone in what you feel or experience.

The Room of Rest is accessible to people of all ages and abilities. It can be particularly helpful if you struggle with physical or mental tension, anxiety, or sleep issues. It’s a great way to promote self-care and take a break from the busyness of daily life.
